It’s important not to lose track of what is important in life. So often we get caught up in the busyness of life that we lose sight of what is really important. We lose sight of the things that actually keep us going and if we don’t do those things like for example eat right, sleep well, exercise, spend time in nature etc. we actually cannot function in this very busy and stressful world.
I have spoken before about enjoying the journey and this comes back to that. Let me share an example from my own life. Right now I am going through what I like to call one of life’s whirlwinds, it is throwing me all over the place, I am in a very busy and stressful environment at work and there is just so much to do and no time to do it in. There are moments where I am not even sure if I will make it through the day. However at the beginning of this year I promised myself peace, happiness and health. I made those my priorities no matter what. Someone once said that the place you need to strive for is the peace within the storm and I can honestly say, that is exactly what I promised myself at the beginning of this year.
Although sometimes difficult (I have not been successful every day) I can say proudly that I have taken my own advice, and that of countless others, and put me first. I am still eating healthy, finding time to sit quietly in my garden with my pets, I have spent time with friends and family and I have made and effort to even through some rough 10 hour days at work to find time for me. I can truly say that this and the wonderful support of my husband have kept me going strong.
If I think how I would have handled this a few years ago I would have been off my rocker as they would say a long time ago, depressed, unhappy, and eating unhealthy and I can think of countless other bad habits.
Today I would like to motivate you to keep what’s important to you close by and make time for you. I will say that again it’s important to make time for you! Don’t lose sight about what is really important to you! If you keep being focused on what makes you happy and healthy life will become a journey and not just an end destination. This might sound so selfish but that’s not true. You cannot help others or make a difference in this world if you can’t even take care of yourself.
I am in that whirlwind right now and although every so often I catch myself wishing the day or week away, I quickly stop and say, “No this is my journey and I will find peace within my storm, I will ride out this whirlwind and enjoy the ride”. When the storm calms down, I will be able to look back and be proud and see what good came out of it. I will know that I did not waste a single moment living in the future, but lived every second of my journey, because I took time for me.
Wishing you all some wonderful “me” times until we chat again.
